HOSA Happenings: September 2018

Hello to all!! It is with great excitement that the school year and our HOSA club is off to a great start. We have had a great turnout in our interest meetings, and we have enjoyed getting to know each new member. Currently, we have 45 members (a great sized community of passionate health students!!!), and in order to keep those numbers up, we need to have everyone pay their dues, which are due October. The link will be here soon.

HOSA members have gotten oriented with what this club is about, for both community service and academic competitions. They have also been exposed to the variety of events that HOSA has to offer—nursing assisting, medical math, nutrition, anyone?

Our last meeting, on Tuesday the 25th, our members finalized their event choice, and read over guidelines of the event. They were able to become more exposed as to the nature of their event, and started planning for Districts, happening in late November.

New in this school year, we wanted to have more meetings dedicated to our events. Some of our meetings are going to be called "HOSA Hall", which is a time where members get together to prepare for their events, whether this is studying, planning, or practicing. Mentors will be available to answer any questions that may arise. We are excited to incorporate more academic competition-based meetings, as creating a holistic club environment is what we decided was super vital for this school year.

Events for districts this year ranges from Human Growth and Development to Job Seeking Skills, Medical Math to Nursing Assisting, and Nutrition to CPR/First Aid. The three most popular events are Healthy Lifestyle, Sports Medicine, and Health Career Display.

If you happen to still desire to become a member, or if you are one and have not chosen an event, PLEASE email us at nmhshosa@gmail.com ASAP. With districts coming up, it is important that we can register you on time, and nonetheless for you to have more time to engage yourself in your event.

Also, dues must be paid by OCTOBER 1ST. This ensures that you become a member for the 2018-19 school year.

We cannot wait to bring our members into the next coming months to bring our best selves out to districts, as well as get started on our first service event of the year in October.
