Join North Meck HOSA Club 2018-19!!

Calling out who are interested in community service, academic competitions, and health professions!! We are so excited to have the time of recruitment here. The North Meck HOSA club is looking for students of all ages, backgrounds, and interests to come together and develop a passionate, hardworking environment in order to share success in and outside the classroom.

So, what exactly is HOSA??

HOSA is abbreviated for Health Occupation Sciences of America, and currently recognized as 'Future Health Professionals". This club has two focuses: on community and service, as well as academic opportunities/explorations.

What a HOSA member will do in the 2018-19 school year:

**help brainstorm, develop, and host 3 community service events throughout the school year

-first aid drive, ALS bake sale, etc

**participate in one of a multitude of academic events geared towards a specific interest, both in a district competition as well as a state competition

-from knowledge tests (such as Sports Medicine or Epidemiology) to hands on events (CPR/first aid or Health Career Display)

**attend weekly meetings (Tuesdays) to stay in tune with the happenings of HOSA, meet with event mentors and study/prep for academic competitions, and plan out service events

-check out the website starting in September 2018 for an agenda of the weekly meetings, so members are able to stay informed week to week

**be exposed to several illnesses/health concepts throughout the school year, with bi-monthly themed presentations, guest speakers, and service trips

-2018-19 themes include Teen Pregnancy/STDs, Mental Illnesses & ALS: weekly meetings

**spread awareness of health issues throughout North Meck and the local community

-the knowledge and exposure that HOSA members will receive does not stay in the walls of the classroom. We are constantly making posters, awareness 'grams', and more to spread the word on important issues.

Now that you have a glimpse of what a HOSA member will look like in the 2018-19 school year, we hope that you join us for our interest meetings: on Tuesday, September 11th at 2:30pm, and Tuesday September 18th at 2:30pm. Our first interest meeting will be service focused, while the second one will be more competition focused.

In order to learn more about HOSA, and get the information on how to sign up, attendance to these meetings are vital.
