A "Bloody" Success!

On August 2nd, North Meck HOSA held a successful first blood drive with the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas! Ten HOSA officers and two teacher advisors volunteered from 8 AM until 1:30 PM signing in donors in the media center and directing traffic around campus. Dozens of donors participated, students and parents alike, to help save lives. CBCC provided a friendly, professional experience to make the donation process as easy as possible. North Meck HOSA wants to give a huge thank you to CBCC for supporting and cooperating with us throughout this long process!

Did You Know?

1 in 7 people will need blood at some point in their lives, but only 1 in 20 will donate. Make the difference! Participate in your local blood drives, just one pint can save up to three lives. Blood donors are heroes! North Meck HOSA is extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to make it all happen! We could never have done it without the members of our community who stepped up to "brave the needle" and support us in this journey.

North Meck HOSA's president and officers went through phone calls, emails, recruitment planning, and extensive advertising to ensure our success. We set off with a goal to get at least 40 donors and managed to have around 60 sign ups! With deferrals and other interfering factors, we still managed to get almost 50 participants and over 30 pints. Our goal may not have been met, but we have learned how we can improve and work as a club to help the community. A big thank you to Nishitha Karumuri, the founder of this club and this four-month long project...

"Although we didn't meet our goal as a club, [HOSA's] not about the scholarship or money. It's about helping those in need and saving the lives of almost 100 people." -Nishitha Karumuri, NM HOSA President
